Welcome to Victoria, a state of varied contrasts and home to the stunning stretch of coastline known as the Great Ocean Road. Close to Melbourne, the vibrant and cosmopolitan state capital, the beautiful Mornington Peninsula is surrounded by rolling hills, bays and beaches. Nearby, Phillip Island is home to penguins, seals, koalas and birdlife. Also within easy reach of the city is the beautiful Yarra Valley and the Daylesford spa region. Melbourne is also known as the sporting capital of Australia, and plays host throughout the year to numerous world-class sporting events such as the Formula 1, Grand Prix, Australian Open Tennis Championship and the famous Melbourne Cup, the 'race that stops a nation'.

  • Victoria is well known as a centre for sporting excellence and you will find throughout he year there are a number of events taking place. From tennis to Grand Prix, racing and rugby there's always something going on. Try to take in a game of Aussie Rules football, it's fast and fun and a real authentic Australian experience.
  • There's no better way to get over a long flight than by indulging in a spot of pampering. Many of Melbourne's leading hotels have excellent spa facilities offering a full range of treatments and therapies. On arrival book yourself in for the full works and emerge feeling refreshed and rejuvinated.
  • Spend some time exploring the Victorian countryside. Within just a short drive of Melbourne is the Yarra Valley and its abundant wineries. Unless you plan to stay overnight the best way to do this is by organised tour, it's a great way to spend the day and you'll really get the most out of the region.
  • Explore the charming towns and villages along the Great Ocean Road, there's many an idyllic spot for lunch or tea and coffee breaks. Take your time and enjoy, this is one of the most scenic drives in the world and it would be a shame to miss anything.
  • Don't miss the Philip Island Penguin Parade. Each day at dusk these charming birds make their way back to their burrows from a day on the seas. You can't fail to be captivated by their cute waddles!
