Learn about the history of wine in Chile with a half-day tour to a local winery and sample some of the delightful wines produced. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 3

Santiago – Punta Arenas – Torres del Paine

This morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Punta Arenas (not included). Upon arrival, a bus will take you to the sleepy town of Puerto Natales, framed as it is, by the snowy peaks of Patagonia, where you will be met by a guide for the transfer to the heart of Torres del Paine National Park for two nights. (B) All categories: Hosteria Lago Grey

Day 4

Torres del Paine National Park

A full-day excursion in the national park awaits you today. Visit the Salto Grande Waterfall, where Nordenkjold Lake drains into Lake Pehoé, to see the unrivalled views of the Cuernos del Paine. Then continue on to the beautiful Lake Grey to see the awe-inspiring glacier, which shares the same name, before walking through the ancient Lenga Forest and along the shores of the lake, watching the icebergs float silently by.

Day 5

Torres del Paine - Puerto Natales

Today has been left free for you to explore and enjoy the beauty of one of the world’s most isolated national parks. We highly recommend taking a boat on Lake Grey and travelling up to the glacier wall. Late afternoon, transfer to Puerto Natales for an overnight stay. All categories: Hotel Costaustralis

Day 6

Puerto Natales – El Calafate

An early start will see you bid farewell to Chile, and board the bus to El Calafate in Argentina. On arrival, enjoy a private transfer to your hotel for three nights.
Standard: Sierra Nevada Hotel Superior: Hotel Posada Los Alamos

Day 7

Mountains - Perito Moreno Glacier

This morning begin a full-day tour to the World Heritage Site of Perito Moreno Glacier. After a beautiful 80km drive through magnificent mountainous scenery, you reach the spectacular glacier, which covers more than four square kilometres of the waters of Lake Argentino. Among the 356 glaciers within the park, the Perito Moreno is the most outstanding, having a 2km long front and a height of over 60m above water level. After a box lunch, return by boat across the bay to the viewing points in front of the glacier, where you can observe the continuous process of ice-calving, and hear the thundering of huge blocks breaking away from the face. Transfer back to El Calafate by road.

Day 8

Upsala Glacier & Lake Onelli

Set off by boat today across Lake Argentino, weaving through icebergs and on to the stunning Upsala Glacier, an area of 955 square kilometres. Passing surrounding beech forests you will then continue until you arrive at Lake Onelli, whose surface is dotted with icebergs of many shapes and sizes. Return to El Calafate.

Day 9

El Calafate – Ushuaia

Transfer to the airport this morning for your flight south to Ushuaia (not included). On arrival in this frontier city, transfer to your hotel for a two-night stay. Ushuaia is
known as the ‘City at the End of the World’ and travellers making it this far south will be following in the footsteps of Magellan and Darwin. Despite its isolated location, the city is a lively place to be, both day and night, and the evening is free to explore its numerous bars and restaurants.
Standard: Albatros Hotel Superior: Los Cauquenes (Mountain View)

Day 10

Tierra del Fuego & Beagle Channel - Penguins

This morning, enjoy a half-day visit to Lapataia in the stark, yet beautiful, Tierra del Fuego National Park. The park is made up of many rivers, lakes and peat bogs, and its rich vegetation acts like a backdrop against the ghost-like tree-trunks which were damaged by fires long ago. In the afternoon, take a two-and-a-half-hour catamaran cruise on the Beagle Channel, which will give you a glimpse of the rugged coastline, cliffs and snow-capped mountains, and a hint of the white wastes of the Antarctic that lie farther south.

Day 11

Depart Ushuaia

After breakfast, take the transfer to the airport for your onward/homeward flight (not included). We highly recommend to finish your tour with a few days in cosmopolitan Buenos Aires (see adjacent).

Buenos Aires - Optional Extension

Extend your stay and discover the elegant city of Buenos Aires. A cosmopolitan city, it is often referred to as Paris of South America, featuring beautifully designed squares and buildings, an interesting arts scene, great shopping and restaurants and a vibrant nightlife. And of course it is home to the fabulous tango, which is best experienced at one of the spectacular dinner and tango shows. From Ushuaia take a flight to Buenos Aires (not included) for a three-night stay at your chosen hotel.

Prices from £251 per person for 3 nights accommodation, including breakfast, based on twin share, city tour and visit to a tango show with dinner.
