South Australia

South Australia, perhaps more so than anywhere else in Australia, is a state of two very distinct halves. The populated southern half, made fertile by the waters of the Murray River, contrasts starkly with the arid, almost empty and endless Outback that forms the northern part of the state. Adelaide is arguably Australia’s most elegant and gracious city, its central business district surrounded by parklands, making it a likeable place to visit. Just a short flight from the city lies Kangaroo Island, one of the best places in Australia to see wildlife in its native environment. Completing the picture of this intriguing state are the impressive Flinders Ranges, the lagoons of the Coorong, and the superb wineries of the Barossa Valley.
