Sydney & Uluru/Ayers Rock
After a day in vibrant, confident Sydney we fly across the vast Outback
to Yulara. From here we take in an awesome array of natural wonders: the
red domes of Kata Tjuta/The Olgas, the 'amphitheatre' at Kings Canyon,
plus of course the imposing majesty of Uluru/Ayers Rock itself. Heading
north we come to the Devil's Marbles, where erosion has created enormous
spherical granite boulders - the eggs of the Rainbow Serpent, according
to aboriginal legend
Katherine Gorge & Kakadu
Next we drive on to Katherine, where we can explore the dramatic gorge
on foot or by boat. In Kakadu, famous for its wildlife and aboriginal
rock paintings, we learn about the extraordinary culture of Australia's
first inhabitants at Nourlangie, and take a boat trip on the Yellow Water
Billabong, home to the native crocodile. Finally we travel via Litchfield
National Park to Darwin where the tour ends. See red route on map.
