New South Wales

New South Wales is where Captain Cook and the first settlers landed, and as such is the birthplace of modern Australia. Stunning beaches, excellent surfing, beautiful scenery, impressive wineries, and of course Sydney, one of the world's favourite cities, all await you. The attractions of Sydney could keep you busy for days, but be sure to allow a few days to discover beyond the city. The wineproducing regions of the Hunter Valley have definite appeal and don't miss the chance to spend a few days in the World Heritagelisted Blue Mountains, before perhaps heading up the coast to discover the alternative culture of Byron Bay. New South Wales generally enjoys a warm, temperate climate and four distinctly-marked seasons.

Top Tips
- Spending time in Sydney is an absolute must in any holiday itinerary to New South Wales, but make sure you allow yourself enough time to enjoy it. We recommend a minimum stay of atleast four or five nights to do the city justice
- Don't restrict your time in New South Wales just to Sydney. It's easy to get out into the Blue Mountains, so named for the blue mist that rises from millions of eucalyptus trees and hangs in the morning air. Choose from a day trip, an overnight tour or visit as part of a self drive holiday.
- If you are planning on exploring the wineries of the Hunter Valley take an organised trip, it's by far the best way to get the most out of a visit and there are no worries about driving either!
- New South Wales boasts a coastline around twice the length of Great Britain, with fabulous beaches, low-key resorts and wonderful natural scenery in the hinterland. Port Stephens is just a short distance from Sydney, and its pretty marina abounds with places to indulge on the freshest seafood and fine local wines
