This tour is designed for the visitor to experience the majesty of the Yangtze River as well as the treasures of its main cities in one comprehensive programme.Experience the dramatic natural landscapes of the Three Gorges as you sail along one of the world’s longest rivers. Commencing with Shanghai and then a four night Yangtze River cruise, the tour includes historical Xian,Beijing for the Great Wall and Forbidden City and a visit to the Panda Reserve in Chengdu.

Days 1-3: UK - Shanghai

Fly to Shanghai and in the evening sample traditional Shanghai cuisine.We visit the beautiful Yu Gardens,Old Town,the Bund, Shanghai Museum,cross the Great Nanpu Bridge and tour Pudong.We explore the restored 1920’s style “Shikumen”buildings and enjoy a stunning Huangpu River evening cruise.

Days 4-7: Shanghai - Yangtze River Cruise

Fly to Yichang and transfer (approx 1 hr) to board our river cruise vessel for the next 4 nights. Enjoy a tour of the Three Gorges Dam before cruising on the mighty Yangtze River, passing through the spectacular Three Gorges and the equally dramatic Shennong Stream or the Lesser Three Gorges.

Day 8: Chongqing - Chengdu

Disembark in Chongqing and drive to Chengdu for an overnight stay.

Days 9-10: Chengdu Panda Reserve - Xian

Visit the famous Panda Reserve to see these endearing animals before flying to the historic city of Xian for 2 nights. This evening,feast on traditional Shui Jiao cuisine.Next day explore the most important archaeological discovery of the 20th Century – the life-size Terracotta Warriors,followed by the Ancient City Wall.End your day with a performance of Tang Dynasty dancing.

Day 11: Xian - Beijing

Today we see the Little Wild Goose Pagoda and Shaanxi Provincial Museum. Stroll through the lively Muslim Quarter to see the Great Mosque and explore the Islamic food markets. Later fly to Beijing,for 3 nights.

Day 12-13: Beijing

We have two days to enjoy everything Beijing has to offer.Our welcoming dinner includes the delicacy ‘Peking Duck’. Next day we visit Tiananmen Square and pass Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum to the Forbidden City,the largest and best preserved collection of ancient buildings,as well as the exquisite Summer Palace. We walk on the Great Wall and tour the unique Temple of Heaven.Our evening entertainment will be a fascinating Chinese Acrobatic Show.

Day 14: Beijing - UK
Transfer to the airport to board our flight to the UK arriving home later the same day filled with happy memories.
