Day 1Arrive Cape TownOn arrival you will be met and transferred to your chosen hotel in Cape
Town, where you will stay for three nights. Days 2-3Cape TownFor the next two days we suggest you make the most of Cape Town and its surrounds. Take the cable car to the top of Table Mountain for the spectacular views; relax on the elegant beaches at Camps Bay and Clifton, spend a day exploring the V&A Waterfront, enjoy the Winelands and learn about South Africa’s past on a Robben Island & Walk to Freedom tour. Days 4-5Rovos RailThis morning, you will be transferred to Cape Town Station
to join one of the most luxurious trains in the world - Rovos Rail. Over
the next 48 hours experience the adventure and romance of a bygone era
from the elegance and privacy of a Deluxe Suite. Sumptuous breakfasts,
lunches and fine dinners are served in the charming Victorian atmosphere
of the dining car and an observation car is the ideal place to meet other
guests and to watch the dramatic changes in scenery as the train crosses
South Africa. Day 6PretoriaArrive at midday into Pretoria’s Capital Park Station pulled by
a vintage steam locomotive for the last leg of the journey. You will be
transferred to your accommodation, where you will stay for one night.
An air of history pervades much of central Pretoria with its impressive
government buildings. Enjoy Pretoria’s sedate pace and colourful
gardens. Days 7-8Rovos RailThis two-night adventure slowly meanders its way north, crossing the
Tropic of Capricorn and up into baobab country. This evocative and beautiful
landscape comes into its own when the sun sets and silhouettes of these
great trees dominate the landscape. After border formalities at Messina
the journey continues through Zimbabwe to Bulawayo, where an excursion
to the Museum of Natural History awaits. Days 9-10Victoria FallsThis morning the train will continue its journey, passing
through the great wilderness of Hwange National Park before journey’s
end at the incomparable Victoria Falls, on the mighty Zambezi. Upon arrival
you will be transferred to your hotel, where you will stay for the next
two nights. Explore the might of the Falls on foot and join one of the
many excursions (payable locally) that include the Flight of the Angels
or a sunset cruise on the Zambezi. Day 11Depart Victoria FallsThis morning, you will be transferred back to Victoria Falls Airport for your onward or homeward flight. |
